I understand the frustration of searching for solutions.  Â
In 2013, my life took an unexpected turn
when I started experiencing excruciating pain and swelling in my joints.
I was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis, wanting to feel healthy but unsure of how to get there. Despite my lifelong interest in the connection between body, mind, and spirit, I wasn’t always practicing what I knew was best. Can you relate?
To make matters worse, I had been following advice that turned out to be inaccurate, leading to my body becoming overwhelmed and ultimately resulting in my diagnosis. The only solutions I was offered were lifelong medications, with the grim warning that without them, I’d be in a wheelchair within five years.
I kept hitting the same wall—treatment that focused solely on symptoms, not the root cause. It became clear that I needed something more, something that considered all of me, not just the diagnosis. I wanted a solution that truly addressed the heart of my health struggles. So, I decided to take my health into my own hands.
That’s when I discovered functional medicine—a holistic approach that looks at the whole person, including their lifestyle and environment, to identify and address the root causes of disease rather than just treating symptoms.
This approach didn’t just help me; it transformed my life and fueled my passion to help others who feel just as stuck.
My journey with rheumatoid arthritis and the discovery of functional medicine didn’t just resolve my immediate health challenges; it also equipped me with the tools to navigate the aging process. As I began to age, I noticed that the same principles I had applied to address my RA were incredibly effective in managing the new symptoms and challenges that came with getting older.
The holistic approach that focuses on the root causes, rather than just the symptoms, became my blueprint for healthy aging. By continuing to prioritize my overall well-being—physically, emotionally, and spiritually—I’ve been able to age with vitality and resilience.
